TODAY’S TOPIC: GOD IS WORTHY OF ALL PRAISE
OPENING PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray that you sanctify my spirit, soul and body as I read your word in Jesus name.
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 115:1–18

• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?

People have the tendency to divert to themselves the glory that belongs to God alone. We see this on our televisions, unfortunately even with our televangelists. Notice where this Psalmist redirects the glory (v.1). All who serve the Lord must cultivate this attitude.
All praise is due only to God, the giver of every good gift. From vv.3–7, we can identify about ten significant differences between our true God and the “gods” (idols) of the people. List them in your notebook and meditate on them.
Think over what v.8 says and let it motivate you to warn those within your circle of influence who lack that knowledge. In vv.9–11, the Psalmist highlights the reason why the “people of God” must put their trust in him alone. What is the main truth about God that we learn from these verses? In addition to the assurance of God’s help and protection, we are also assured of his provisions/blessings (vv.12–15)
Practice/Word Application
• So: Spend some extended time to do what v.18 encourages us to do, noting the truth of v.17. The hymn “Praise my soul, the King of heaven” by Henry F. Lyte, is an appropriate hymn to start with.
Prayer
• Dear Father, help me to sing praises unto you at all times and in all circumstances.
• Thank God for the press houses and publishing houses that primarily devote to publishing Christian literature and related materials.
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with Genesis 24:60b
